    蔡涵墨，1975年获美国印第安那大学东亚语言文学系博士学位。曾任教于台湾大学外文系、美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校、纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校，纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校。现为奥尔巴尼大学和纽约州立大学奥尔巴尼分校东亚研究系教授。主要研究方向是中国中古文学文化研究，是韩愈研究专家。近来的研究兴趣在于杜甫诗和宋代史学与宋代政治史经济史的关系。著有“Han Yü and the T'ang Search for Unity”《历史的严妆:解读道学阴影下的南宋史学》等重要学术著作
